The Bamileke king of Cameroon sits on this stool during public pomps. This is the only time the stool is utilized and only by the king. The rosette design constitutes the 'earth spider', 'heteroscodra crassipes'.
Each piece is amazingly created by hand carving a single tree trunk, creating this a truly special item. The workmanship and time taken could be hard to comprehend, the craftsman hollow out the centre of the tree, leaving a thin exterior that they carve with an intricate pattern.
