In fact, cherry grows only more attractive with the passage of time, as it goes from it's initial light brown color to it's aged, elegant, and instantly recognizable brownish‐red hue.
Cherry is also one of the 'hardest woods' used in the manufacture of furniture of any kind. A cherry wood coffee table is 'very difficult' to damage, as the wood resists all but the most intense scraping or denting.
The 'cherry wood' used for most tables sold in the United States is derived from 'cherry trees grown' in the mountains of Appalachia and the Alleghany Mountains of West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
